Our illustrations & Van art

Hitting the road and travelling all year long is a dream that just a few percent of the humans are able to fulfill. The more we travel, the more we would love to achieve that. We’re on a journey and we need to make the best experience of it. There is no more than this life time to reach our goals and to make our dreams come true, and to not let them be just that: dreams.

So, lately, we have been thinking of some ways to allow us to get enough income while we are on the road. Besides all our social media (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and our website), we know that we need to do more than that to engage more with our audience and to bring quality content everyday. We gave a new look to our blog, we improved our YouTube channel and we are sharing more on our Instagram profile.

Working online is more and more present in the society,  and especially during these pandemic times, companies and employees are awakening to this new reality. There are a lot of pros to these new ideal working conditions and everyone can profit from it. Employees can work from home having more time with their families and avoid being stuck in traffic during rush hours, and companies can have more space in the offices or even owning smaller spaces to have their companies (especially offices).

Since forever i have had this entrepreneur mindset. I want more than to work from 9-5 in a traditional company, until i reach my retirement. These kind of thoughts were never in my mind, and today even less.
I learnt to do things by my own, i have learnt how to produce music, play two instruments, photo and video edition, web and graphic design. Even if it is not on a professional level, I can do a few things.

That’s why i want to improve my knowledge about working online and in some areas as digital marketing and web and graphic design. Why? Because that allows me to make some freelancing work and travel at the same time as I don’t need to be attached to a company or a fixed place. So, I decided to be a bit creative. I opened Photoshop and started to do some illustrations (although Adobe Illustrator would be better, but I don’t have enough knowledge about it).

I started to do a small illustration of our van (Bumblebee). I wanted to cartoonize it to make, eventually, a sticker from it (something that is popular among vanlifers).
I needed to learn some tools as I never did anything like that before in Photoshop, but soon I just didn’t want to stop. I loved the result and I wanted to make some for other vanlifers. So I contacted them, showed my work and asked them if they were interested in something like that from their van. Et voilá, some said “yes” to that and I started to work.
The more I worked on it, the more ideas came to my mind. And the improvement was amazing.

So, now as I have a few already done, the goal is to reach more and more vanlifers to offer my work and maybe to reach more audience.
The fact that the people that said yes shared the work on their Instagram stories helped me to get more contacts. And we are truly grateful for that.

But, I’m not a professional graphic designer or so. Not even close. Actually, I’m still in the basic level and I feel inspired by the ones who can really work flawlessly with these softwares. I feel amazed by the creativity of these people. It is so inspiring to see the ideas that they just create through their thoughts.
That is something that I won’t ever reach because creativity needs to be born with you.

Now,  in this blog post I want to share with you a few of the works I have done for people I admire and have met on Instagram.

I hope you like it as much as I do. Let me know in the comments what do you think.

Love,

João & Leonie
